Daughters of Oyr
Whisper spent nearly her whole life living a lie. She was to follow in the footsteps of the legendary heroes from epics of yore. She would vanquish evil, right injustices, and save the world from tyranny. But she finally gave up that life when she wizened up enough to see: heroes didn’t exist. The gods hadn’t intervened in mortals’ lives since those epics, if ever at all. There was no need of heroes in this day and age.
Then, five years later, Whisper finds herself thrust into the midst of what seems like a great epic unfolding before her. A mythic creature contacts her, speaking cryptic omens about her lost child. Rumors abound that she is cursed by a demon of misfortune. She is being chased by an unstoppable force and must choose to either accept her forgotten heroism or let the world as she knows it crumble into the past.
A fantasy journey tale in the vein of Ursula K. LeGuin and Marion Zimmer Bradley, Daughters of Oyr tells the real story behind the epic. It examines the idea of heroism, magic, and strife in a speculative world strikingly similar to our own.
Daughters of Oyr is a working title for a heroic, high fantasy, novel-in-progress by Keith R. Potempa. Click here for some sample excerpts.
