Elizabeth George: “What I Believe about Writing.”
First, to be an assured success in writing, a person needs to possess three qualities: talent, passion, and discipline.
Second, to be a probable success in writing, a person needs to possess either talent and discipline, or passion and discipline.
Third, to possess talent and passion, or talent or passion alone without the discipline will not take a writer to the end of the first page.
And fourth, to possess discipline by itself is often enough to assure success, as is attested to by the publication and worldwide success of many truly terrible books that generally go on to be truly terrible major motion pictures.
